Submersible Slurry Pump Full Introduction

Submersible Slurry Pump Full Introduction
Overall Structure

1. Submersible 3-phase Asynchronous Motor

    Fully sealed dry-type submersible motor, cooled by circulating water on shell; built-in multiple protections: overheat, water leakage, oil chamber probe; waterproof sealed cable outlet, fully isolated from slurry vapor.

2. Oil Chamber & Double Mechanical Seal Assembly

    Independent lubricating oil cavity, hard alloy double-end mechanical seal with pressure balance structure, blocking sediment and sewage from entering motor to extend seal service life.

3. Bearing Assembly: Thickened heavy-duty bearings with grease lubrication, resisting sediment impact and unbalanced vibration.

4. Wetted Wear-resistant Core Components

    - Wide-channel semi-open main impeller: large clearance anti-clogging, capable of passing large sand and ore slag particles;

    - Front & back wear liners, volute casing;

    - Material options: High-chromium A05 alloy (coarse high-abrasive particles), rubber / polyurethane lining (fine acidic & alkaline corrosive slurry).

5. Bottom Agitator Impeller (Unique Core Design)

    Auxiliary stirring wheel under main impeller. It rotates to stir settled sludge at tank bottom and break agglomerated sediment, realizing high-concentration slurry pumping without external stirring equipment.

6. Inlet Strainer Base: Filter large debris to prevent stones and branches from jamming impeller.

Working Principle

The whole pump is fully submerged under slurry liquid level. After power-on, submersible motor drives coaxial main impeller and bottom agitator wheel to rotate synchronously:

1. Bottom agitator scours and stirs settled sediment at tank bottom to form uniform high-concentration slurry;

2. Slurry enters pump chamber through base strainer, main impeller boosts slurry pressure by centrifugal force;

3. Pressurized slurry discharges from side outlet along pipeline.

No suction lift limitation, no cavitation or dry running risk. No auxiliary equipment required, such as priming water, foot valve or vacuum pump.

Core Advantages

1. No suction lift limit, thorough sludge cleaning: Fully submerged under water, directly pumping sediment at tank bottom, maximum submergence depth up to 20m.

2. Built-in stirring function: Bottom agitator breaks sediment, maximum slurry concentration up to 60% by weight.

3. Flexible installation & movement: No pump house or concrete foundation required; hoisting by steel wire rope or floating pontoon for river operation, easy relocation at construction sites.

4. Low noise & vibration: Underwater operation, much quieter than ground horizontal & vertical slurry pumps.

5. Simple supporting system & low infrastructure cost: No long transmission shaft, flushing water or vacuum pump needed.

6. Multi-layer safety protection: Real-time alarm for water leakage, overheating and oil chamber water ingress to avoid motor burnout.

7. Wear-resistant & durable: High-chromium alloy wetted parts resist severe erosion from ore, steel slag and sand.

Disadvantages
1. Motor fully immersed in medium, medium temperature limited ≤40℃, not applicable for high-temperature working conditions.

2. Poor performance for ultra-high head (>60m) long-distance transportation compared with heavy-duty horizontal AH slurry pump.

3. Immersed in corrosive medium, must be lifted out for cleaning & maintenance during long-term shutdown.

4. Mechanical seal suffers sediment abrasion, faster wear under strong corrosive media.

Standard Performance Parameter Range
- Nominal diameter: 50–400 mm

- Flow rate: 10–2000 m³/h

- Head: 8–60 m

- Allowable slurry concentration: ash & coal slurry ≤45% by weight; ore & tailings slurry ≤60% by weight

- Max passable solid particle size: 60mm (large-caliber heavy ZJQ model)

- Submergence depth: 1–20 m

- Medium temperature: ≤40℃, free of flammable & explosive gas

- Applicable pH value: 4–10 neutral / weak acid & alkali slurry

Applicable Industries & Media
1. Mineral Processing: Tailings tank dredging, slurry transfer, underflow pumping for sedimentation tanks;

2. Thermal Power Plant: Ash flushing tank, desulfurization gypsum slurry, fly ash slag transportation;

3. River & Port Dredging: Inland river silt cleaning, wharf sand pumping, fish pond sludge removal;

4. Metallurgy & Steel Mill: Oxide scale sediment tank, steel slag wastewater delivery;

5. Municipal Environmental Protection: Sewage plant sludge, river black odorous silt, foundation pit mud at construction sites;

6. Coal Washing Plant: Coal slime sediment tank, dense medium coal slurry pumping;

7. Construction Engineering: Pile foundation mud, foundation pit mud drainage, aggregate slurry transportation.

Key Selection Guidelines
1. Confirm slurry tank water depth to select matching submergence depth; choose deep-water heavy model if depth over 10m.

2. Select high-chromium alloy wetted parts for coarse high-abrasive ore slag; rubber lining for fine acidic sludge.

3. Reserve 15% margin for flow rate and head, high-concentration slurry brings larger pipeline resistance.

4. Must adopt flameproof explosion-proof submersible motor for media containing flammable gas (coal mine, chemical plant).

5. Choose heavy ZJQ series for 24h non-stop continuous production; light KSQ series for short-term construction dredging.

Daily Maintenance Instructions
1. Lift pump out and flush pump cavity & agitator with clean water after each shift shutdown to prevent sediment solidification and jamming.

2. Regularly inspect cable sheath for damage to avoid electric leakage risk.

3. Replace oil chamber lubricant every 800 running hours, check mechanical seal for leakage.

4. Periodically test normal operation of water leakage & overheat protection signal cables.

5. Lift pump away from liquid level during long-term shutdown, clean all wetted parts and coat anti-rust grease for storage.
