HH & HG High Head Slurry Pump Full Introduction
HG / GH High Head Gravel Pump

HG/GH high head gravel slurry pump adopts wide-channel semi-open impeller, mainly for large-size sand, river dredging and dredger sand pumping. Single-stage head ranges 5–80m, capable of passing large cobbles & slag, balancing high head and large particle passage capacity, widely used in dredging, sand mining and steel plant slag delivery.

Overall Structure (HH as Main, HG Difference Supplement)
2.1 Structure of HH High Head Slurry Pump

1. Double Pressure-Bearing Casing

    Outer ductile iron shell bears pipeline pressure; inner replaceable high-chrome volute liner & frame plate liner. Thickened casing for high-pressure working conditions; worn liner can be replaced separately without whole pump casing change to cut maintenance cost.

2. Special Thickened Closed High-Head Impeller

    Enlarged outer diameter & extended blade hydraulic profile, higher pressure boosting capacity than AH pump at same rotation speed; fully cast A05 high-chrome alloy with thick blades for severe abrasion resistance. Auxiliary back vanes on impeller backside reduce slurry pressure entering shaft seal cavity.

3. Oversized Heavy-Duty Bearing Cartridge

    Widened bearing span with double spherical roller bearings, oil lubricated with cooling chamber; counteract huge axial thrust generated under high head, stable 24h heavy-duty operation without overheating or axial shifting.

4. Multiple Shaft Seal Options

    Optional expeller seal (zero leakage), packing seal, cartridge mechanical seal. Expeller + mechanical seal combination is preferred for long-distance high-pressure transportation to avoid slurry leakage damaging bearings.

5. Multiple Transmission Modes

    Flexible coupling direct drive, V-belt drive, reduction gearbox, fluid coupling. Discharge outlet can be adjusted to 8 angles at 45° intervals to match complex pipeline layout.

Structural Difference of HG/GH Gravel Pump
- Semi-open wide-channel impeller with large passage for oversized solids;

- Single casing with quick-release clamp design for fast disassembly & sand cleaning;

- Larger suction inlet, superior NPSH anti-cavitation performance than HH;

- Thicker wear parts for sand & cobble medium, not suitable for fine mineral slurry.

Working Principle

Motor drives main shaft and high-head impeller to rotate at high speed, slurry flows axially into pump chamber:

1. Extended curved blades of HH pump pressurize slurry step by step, realizing ultra-high single-stage head to overcome long pipeline friction loss;

2. Wide channel impeller of HG pump has narrow clearance free design, sand & cobbles pass integrally without clogging;

3. Pressurized slurry converts kinetic energy to static pressure inside volute and discharges for long-distance pipeline delivery;

4. Negative pressure barrier formed by impeller back auxiliary vanes blocks high-concentration abrasive slurry from invading seal cavity, extending seal service life.

If system total head exceeds single-stage limit, multiple HH pumps can be connected in series to stack total pressure, replacing costly multi-stage slurry pumps.

Core Advantages
Advantages of HH High Head Slurry Pump

1. Ultra High Single-Stage Head

    Ordinary AH slurry pump max single-stage head only 50m, HH reaches up to 92m. Single unit completes long-distance tailing & concentrate transportation, cutting equipment investment and pipeline loss without multiple pumps series/parallel connection.

2. Full Metal Superior Wear Resistance

    No rubber lining, all wetted parts made of A05 high-chrome alloy, resist severe erosion from coarse ore & steel slag without rubber tearing or swelling failure.

3. Heavy-Duty Anti-Axial Thrust Design

    Oversized bearing housing & double roller bearings, low vibration under high-pressure high-head condition, bearing service life doubled for year-round continuous concentrator operation.

4. Series Connection Available for Pressure Boost

    When total required head over 90m, 2+ HH pumps can be installed in series, applicable for underground mine dewatering, tailings backfill & deep well ore slurry lifting.

5. Stable High-Pressure Sealing

    Expeller pressure relief structure greatly reduces mechanical seal bearing pressure, slurry leakage rate much lower than standard slurry pump for high-concentration medium delivery.

Advantages of HG High Head Gravel Pump
1. Compatible with high head & large solid particles, pass cobble up to 50mm for sand mining & river dredging exclusive use;

2. Large bore wide channel, anti-clogging for sand & weeds;

3. Quick clamp casing, efficient on-site cleaning of sand sediment.

Limitations
1. HH has no rubber liner, weak anti-corrosion performance for fine particle weak acid slurry compared with lined AHR pump;

2. Hydraulic efficiency of HH impeller slightly lower than AH, higher power consumption under same flow rate;

3. HG inferior to HH on abrasion resistance, only for sand dredging, not fine high-abrasion mineral circulation.

Comparison: HH High Head Pump vs Ordinary AH Slurry Pump
| Items | HH High Head Slurry Pump | Standard AH Slurry Pump |

| Single-Stage Head | 15–92m for high-pressure long pipeline | 5–50m for medium-low head short circulation |

| Wetted Material | Only high-chrome metal, no rubber liner | Dual options: metal / rubber lining |

| Impeller Profile | Extended thickened hydraulic design for high pressure | Standard short blade general impeller |

| Axial Bearing Capacity | Heavy double roller bearing, resist high-pressure thrust | Light bearing, easy overheat & axial shift under high head |

| Series Connection | Allowed for pressure boosting | Not recommended, easy seal leakage under high pressure |

| Applicable Solids | Medium-coarse hard abrasive ore slurry | Universal for fine & coarse particles, rubber liner for fine corrosive slurry |

| Typical Working Condition | Tailing backfill, long-distance pipeline transportation | Flotation cell, thickener short circulation |

Key Selection Guidelines
1. Select HH pump if required single-stage head over 50m; AH pump is more cost-effective for head ≤50m.

2. HG/GH gravel pump for medium with large cobble, river sand & dredging; HH for pure mineral processing slurry.

3. Adopt two or more HH pumps connected in series for ultra-high head over 100m.

4. Choose rubber-lined AHR pump instead of HH if medium contains weak acid & fine particles without large lumps.

5. Equip oil-lubricated bearing + expeller seal for 24h continuous high-pressure production.

6. Reserve 20% margin for flow & head, long-distance pipeline brings severe pressure loss.

Daily Maintenance Instructions
1. Supply continuous low-pressure clean flushing water to mechanical seal during HH high-pressure unit operation; dry running without flushing water is strictly forbidden.

2. Replace lubricating oil every 2000 running hours for oil-lubricated bearing; refill grease every 500 hours for grease-lubricated model.

3. Flush pump chamber thoroughly with clean water after each shift shutdown to prevent solidified slurry jamming impeller.

4. Inspect liner & impeller wear regularly; abrasion rate under high head is higher than ordinary slurry pumps.

5. Disassemble quick-release clamp of HG gravel pump after each shift to clear sand & weeds wrapped on impeller.

6. Fully drain slurry inside pump for long-term shutdown, coat anti-rust grease on all high-chrome wetted parts before storage.
